Shopify SEO for online stores
Shopify SEO and other ecommerce services for stores that need sales
Orkis Media provides Shopify SEO services for online stores selling across the UK and beyond. I work on the searches that bring buyers to your store, and on the reasons visitors leave without buying.
Anyone can learn to install a Shopify theme. The harder work is tweaking it, choosing apps for a reason, setting up analytics you can trust, planning the offers and sale periods that turn visits into orders and finding the reasons why they don’t buy.

A good fit if
Your store has one of these problems
- Products that sell, but too few people find them
- Visitors who browse and leave without buying
- SEO apps installed with no clear reason why
- No analytics, or numbers nobody trusts
The free assessment tells you which one to fix first.
The real problem
More traffic will not fix a store that does not sell
The expensive mistake is paying for SEO or other ecommerce services that sends visitors to a store that cannot convert them. Rankings rise, sessions rise, and orders stay flat. Before I touch a keyword, I look at what sells, what does not, and why.
Sometimes the fix is a better collection page. Sometimes it is a price point, a bundle, or a sale planned weeks ahead instead of the night before.

I start from what sells
Your best sellers and your highest-margin ranges decide where the SEO effort goes first. Search volume alone does not.
What is included
What my Shopify SEO services cover
The assessment decides the order. These are some of the areas I work across.
Keywords and page ownership
I research the searches your buyers use, then decide which product, collection or page should own each one. One clear page per search stops your own pages competing with each other.
Collections and products
Titles, meta descriptions, headings, product descriptions and alt text, written for the buyer first. Collection pages target the broader searches, so they get useful copy, not one line above the grid.
Shopify technical SEO
Shopify can show the same product at its own address and inside a collection address, and Shopify’s developer documentation flags the SEO implications. I check how your theme links products, whether redirects were added when URLs changed, and whether the sitemap Shopify generates is submitted to Search Console.
Theme tweaks and apps
I make small theme changes myself, and review every installed app: what it does, whether it duplicates another, and whether it earns its place. Shopify’s default robots.txt works for most stores, so I only change it with a clear reason.
Analytics you can trust
If you cannot see which products, pages and searches lead to orders, every decision is a guess. I explain what to track and why, then check that Google Analytics and Search Console are set up to show it.
Google Merchant Center
With your products in Merchant Center, eligible items can appear at no cost on Google Search, the Shopping tab and Google Images. Showing is not guaranteed, but the listings are free, and I help you get the product feed set up properly. You might ant to read: The Merchant Center mistakes I find on Shopify.
Things store owners rarely ask for
- Analytics that tie visits to orders
- An offer architecture
- A calendar of sale periods
- A Merchant Center product feed
These rarely appear on a Shopify SEO brief. In my experience, they decide whether the SEO pays for itself.
Beyond rankings
Offers, sale periods and the reasons people buy
Offer architecture is how your range is arranged to sell: which products bring people in, which ones earn the margin, what gets bundled, and what the offer is at each price point. Without one, a store tends to discount everything at once and hope.
Sale periods need the same planning. I help you decide which sales are worth running for your products, what the offer is and when it starts, then get the collection pages and copy live early enough for search engines to find them before the rush.
How it works
From first look to changes in your store
Step 1
Assessment or call
Send me your store address and what you sell, or call to talk it through. I look at the store before suggesting anything.
Step 2
Findings and a plan
A written list of what to fix, in priority order, showing who should do each job: you, your developer or me.
Step 3
The work
You or your developer may want to make some of the changes from the plan. I can then make the content, SEO and small theme changes where you want me to, and arrange a developer for heavier work.
Step 4
Measure
I record where the store stands before work starts, from Google Search Console and your analytics, then review progress against that same baseline.
What I do not do
What is not included, and when to go elsewhere
Knowing what sits outside the work saves you paying for the wrong thing.
- Paid ads. I run Google Shopping campaigns, Performance Max or Meta ads. If paid ads are what your store needs first, I will say so, and you will need to decide whether to use your own ads specialist. It’s rare that ads are needed first
- Store builds and theme design. I tweak themes. I don’t usually design or build new stores.
- Custom apps and heavy theme code. That goes to your developer, or to a developer I bring in and manage.
If you only need a theme installed
You do not need me. Shopify’s own help pages cover installing a theme, and paying an SEO or marketing consultant to do it wastes money better spent on stock.
No fixed Shopify SEO packages
I quote after the assessment. Catalogue size, the state of the theme and apps, how much copy needs writing and whether development is needed all affect the price.
Experience
More than 20 years of building and running online stores
I have been building and managing eCommerce sites since the early 2000s, on Magento, Joomla, WordPress with WooCommerce and Shopify, for my own businesses and for clients.
Orkis Media is not a large Shopify SEO agency. You deal with me directly, and I bring in a developer or other expertice when a job needs one. I am based in Branston, Burton-on-Trent, and work with stores across the UK and beyond.

Questions before you start
Shopify SEO FAQs
Straight answers to the questions store owners ask before work begins.
How much do your Shopify SEO services cost?
I quote after reviewing the store. A small catalogue on a clean theme needs far less work than a large store with years of changed URLs, and you see the scope and price before committing.
Does the Page One Guarantee apply to Shopify stores?
No. The guarantee mentioned elsewhere on this site is built for local businesses competing for customers in a defined area, which is what my local SEO services cover. Online stores compete nationally or internationally, so I do not put the same promise behind them. That said I always guarantee my work and always have. If you are not happy with any aspect of my work during that month I will refund that month’s fee.
Do I need an SEO app?
Not necessarily. Shopify generates a sitemap automatically, and meta descriptions can be set for pages, products, collections and blog posts without an app. I review what you have installed and only recommend an app when it does a job the store cannot already do. Read my Shopify SEO guide
Can you help if my store gets no or very little traffic?
Yes, and that is often the first place to start. I look at why visitors aren’t landing on your store, I look at your competitors: are they having the same problem, if not what are you missing? I also look at the analytics , the offer and the product pages, then tell you what is most likely holding visitors to your store back.
Can you help if my store gets traffic but no sales?
Yes, and that is often the second place to start. I look at where visitors land, the analytics, the offer and the product pages, then tell you what is most likely holding sales back.
What access will you need?
Usually access to your Shopify admin, Google Search Console and Google Analytics. The plan sets out exactly what is needed, and why, before any work starts.
